Alyssa Bushunow
Executive Director
Alyssa has been deeply involved in the Tamburitzan organization and culture her whole life. Joining her first Junior Tamburitzan Ensemble at the age of five, she was inspired by her grandparents, parents, and many other family members who performed their way through college on the Tamburitzan stage. After completing four years with the ensemble herself and graduating Duquesne University with a B.S.B.A., Alyssa left the Arts to work in the for profit environment, starting as a District Manager with ALDI. Working across Western Pennslyvannia and Upstate New York, she gained invaluable insight to Business Operations - leading teams of 100+ people and managing budgets in the millions.
Returning to the Tamburitzans in 2019 as a Company Manager, Alyssa considers working with the ensemble her passion career. Watching the next generation of students on stage perform traditions from around the world is the most rewarding part of her job. After helping steer the group through the COVID19 pandemic, perservering through 517 days of inactivity on stage, Alyssa took the position of Executive Director. Together with a dedicated board, innovative Artistic Director, and hugely engaged network of alumni and Friends, she collaborates from the new Tamburitzan Home in the North Side to ensure the ensemble remains on stage for 86 Seasons to come.
